About Me

When I was in second grade I told my whole class that I’d spent spring break roping and branding cattle on my uncle’s cattle ranch in Oklahoma. My uncle did not have a cattle ranch and I had never been to Oklahoma but I spent ten minutes of show-and tell describing the horse I rode and the way to rope a calf. I even drew pictures of cattle brands on the board. To my great fear and delight, every one believed me. My life as a fiction writer had begun. Many years, three novels, five picture books, and hundreds of articles and stories later, I’m still telling stories.
